Perfect Pressure Cooker Jasmine Rice

Updated: Mar 14, 2023

Pressure cooker jasmine rice

This method for cooking rice is as simple as it gets and is fail-proof! I never make rice any other way now. Jasmine rice is slightly aromatic and nutty tasting, and it is a sticky rice. It pairs great with just about any dish!

All you will need is rice, water, and a pressure cooker. I used Crockpot brand, so note the time and functions may differ slightly.

Measure out then rinse your rice with a strainer. Then add it to your instant pot followed by your two cups of water. Stir it if the rice is not covered by the water.

For Crockpot pressure cookers you will select steam on high, or manual for Instant Pot brand. Set the time for 4 minutes. The valve should be closed. Let it cook for the 4 minutes then don't touch it for 10 minutes.

Once it is cooked and the 10 minutes on "keep warm" are up, turn off your pressure cooker and open it, fluff your rice with the rice paddle. Keep the lid on if you are not serving it right away to prevent the rice from drying out.

For reheating, wet a paper towel so that it is damp, and lay it over your rice so that it is fully covered. Then microwave for about one minute for a single serving. Enjoy within a few days, rice doesn't keep long.

Ingredients

[Serves 6-8]

2 cups jasmine rice

2 cups water

Directions

  1. Measure out then rinse your rice with a strainer. Then add it to your instant pot followed by your two cups of water. Stir it if the rice is not covered by the water.

  2. Close lid and set the steam valve to closed so no steam is being let out.

  3. Set your pressure cooker to steam (or manual mode for Instant Pot) on high for 4 minutes.

  4. Once the pressure cooker has finished the 4 minutes of cooking, it will automatically go to "keep warm", let it sit for an additional 10 minutes, it will count up for you.

  5. After the 10 minutes is up, turn off the pressure cooker and carefully open the steam valve. Let it release all the pressure, then open and fluff the rice with the provided rice spatula or a fork.

  6. It is best served immediately but can be saved for about 3 days. For reheating wet a paper towel and cover the rice. Then microwave for about 1-2 minutes.
